.SHORT TERM /THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/... Issued at 236 PM EDT Sun Sep 28 2025
Ridging aloft and surface high pressure centered just northeast of the region has allowed for sunny skies and steady northeasterly winds. With increased heights, temperatures are currently in the mid 80s.
As the sun sets this evening, any afternoon Cu will dissipate and winds will become calm to light. Fog will be possible in the early morning in the river valley areas. Otherwise, low temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 50s and low 60s in urban areas.
Monday and Monday night will be similar to today, mostly clear skies and warm temperatures in the mid 80s for highs. Lows will be in the upper 50s and low 60s.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... Issued at 236 PM EDT Sun Sep 28 2025
===== Tuesday - Tuesday Night =====
Tropical Storm Imelda will be located of the coast of Georgia and South Carolina as it begins to push off to the east-northeast and into the Atlantic. As this happens, moisture will sling northwest into the Appalachians. Moisture will likely not reach central Kentucky, though eastern Kentucky will see some scattered showers. Therefore, continuing with a dry forecast for central KY and southern Indiana.
This tropical system will work to break down the ridging centered over the region, which will lead to slightly decreased heights and temperatures. Expecting to see high temperatures in the low-to-mid 80s.
===== Wednesday - Sunday =====
Broad ridging and surface high pressure will remain over the region through the week. We will see dry weather through the end of the weekend. Temperatures will remain in the upper 70s and low 80s, near normal or slightly above normal for this time of year. Should be a very pleasant week.
There is currently no forecasted precipitation over the next 7 days, therefore, drought is forecasted to persist or worsen this week.

VFR conditions are expected at the terminals for the upcoming TAF period. Diurnal Cu field will dissipate in the next hour with clear skies expected overnight. Winds will be light overnight, but fog production looks to be pretty limited overnight. If fog were to form, it would be most likely for a few hours at HNB and BWG. Otherwise, sunny skies and a light northeast wind is expected for the day on Monday.
