...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, AVIATION...

.KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 1220 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

- Mostly dry weather with above normal temperatures this week.

- Low chance for thunderstorms over portions of northeast Oklahoma Saturday evening.

&&

.SHORT TERM... (Through tonight) Issued at 1220 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

Increasing high clouds are expected into the afternoon hours but conditions will remain dry today. Temperatures will remain above normal, with highs generally in the mid 80s. With the increased cloud cover tonight, fog will be less of a concern. The increased clouds will keep temperatures up a few degrees from this morning, with lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Tomorrow through Monday) Issued at 1220 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

Upper level ridging will retreat eastwards slightly Tuesday as a weak upper level low brushes the area from the west. The main impact will be increased cloud cover Tuesday and potentially some virga showers (rain falls but evaporates above the surface). High temperatures may be held down slightly into the lower to mid 80s for many locations.

High pressure will flex back into the area Wednesday through Saturday, with a slow warming trend over this period. By Friday, highs may approach 90 F in the warmest locations. Low temperatures will also slowly rise, mostly into the 60s. Rain will be scarce during this period, with the only chance being maybe a shower or thunderstorm clipping portions of eastern Oklahoma Saturday night. This would be in response to an upper level system brushing the area to the west. Upper level ridging will then reamplify over the weekend and into early next week with warm and dry weather persisting. Breezy southerly winds may develop for this period.

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1220 PM CDT Mon Sep 29 2025

VFR conditions and light easterly winds expected through the period with increasing mid to high cloud through tonight and into the day tomorrow over the region. More patchy fog could be possible tomorrow morning across NW AR sites, but increasing cloud cover will likely limit coverage and thus have kept out of mention in the TAFs for now.
