1983 - A thunderstorm downburst caused a timber blowdown in the Kaibab National Forest north of the Grand Canyon. Two hundred acres were completely destroyed, and scattered destruction occurred across another 3300 acres. Many trees were snapped off 15 to 30 feet above ground level.

Scanlon is a city in Carlton County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 987 at the 2020 census.
Interstate 35 and Carlton County Highway 45 (CR 45) are two of the main routes in Scanlon.
Other main routes include Washington Avenue (CR 16) and County Road 61 (CR 61).
Scanlon is located immediately east of the city of Cloquet; and 18 miles southwest of the city of Duluth.
