.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES: - A slow cool down is expected through early next week.

- With an upper ridge breaking down, there may be a couple chances for precipitation, the first round will exit northeast montana this afternoon.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: A large upper low off the Pacific Northwest coast will gradually move inland but weaken by late in the week.

First round of Precipitation opportunities this morning will exit the area around early afternoon with a few general showers and maybe a weak thunderstorm or two., moving northeast across the CWA by late tonight. Temperatures will slowly trend downward this week as a trough from the southwest moves in followed by a trough coming in from the northwest this weekend.

Thursday into Saturday night, a shortwave trough will lift across the region on Thursday, pushing a stronger cold front and the possibility of showers through eastern Montana starting Thursday night. There remains high uncertainty in the details of precipitation opportunities into Saturday night.

Temperatures look to cool to about normal Saturday, then drop below normal Sunday and Monday. There is a small chance fora warm up starting Tuesday but ensembles are so spread out in solutions that the confidence is low.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Few deviation from NBM to note. Once the PoPs from this morning rain event got into the range of RAP and HRRR the NBM finally started to pull in CAMs data and self correct.

There is low confidence of precipitation amounts with each system from Thursday night into Saturday night.
