- Dry weather with above average temps through next weekend

Upper ridge centered SW of the state today will continue to dominate over the region through the upcoming work week. The ridge will only be reinforced and amplify through mid-week as the large upper trough over the Pacific moves in over the Western U.S.. This will ensure strong subsidence over the area, keeping the area very dry with above average temperatures through the period.

850 mb temps will remain in the mid teens C through mid-week, supporting highs near 80F each afternoon through Wednesday. A strengthening low level gradient developing from the east around the sfc ridge to our north will usher in slightly cooler temperatures for the end of the work week.

We will see the upper ridge axis shift east of the area by the end of the week, allowing heights to lower a little and SW flow ahead of the large western trough to move overhead. The associated sfc cold front will not approach the area until at least next Sunday. A lack of moisture advection will allow the dry conditions to continue through Saturday.

Timing of the next chance of rain is still uncertain given we are 7+ days out yet. The various model ensemble members show this well with quite a spread from no rain to some rain.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z MONDAY/... Issued at 123 PM EDT Sun Sep 28 2025

VFR likely under clear skies into tomorrow as a high pressure system covers the Great Lakes region. The exception to VFR may be patchy or shallow fog 09 to 12 Z, more probable around JXN, BTL, and AZO where dew points are staying a little higher today (much drier air is mixing down in Central Michigan this afternoon). A greater fog threat may be mitigated by 15 knot winds a couple hundred feet above ground tonight.

.MARINE... Issued at 123 PM EDT Sun Sep 28 2025

Expecting rather light winds and low waves through at least Tuesday. Wind direction will tend to vary with the contribution of the daytime lake breeze circulation and the nighttime land breeze circulation.
