.KEY MESSAGES...
- Dry and warm conditions will continue through Saturday.
- Better rain chances return Sunday through much of next week as increasing moisture and a series of weak disturbances move across the region.
&&
.SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Sunday night) Issued at 1218 PM CDT Fri Sep 19 2025
Weak high pressure at the surface and slightly drier air aloft will maintain warm and dry conditions across the region today and tomorrow with highs in the low to mid 90s. As drier air mixes down to the surface, dewpoints will fall from the mid 70s into the upper 60s making afternoon highs a bit more tolerable. Higher moisture will begin to push into the region Sunday allowing for a few, diurnally driven storms to develop, but there isn`t going to be much of a synoptic focus for activity.
&&
.LONG TERM... (Monday through next Thursday) Issued at 1218 PM CDT Fri Sep 19 2025
An upper level trof moving across the midwest and waves pulsing through it will create a more unsettled atmosphere through the middle of next week offering some needed rainfall across areas that have gotten somewhat dry over the last couple of weeks. The added cloud cover and rainfall is expected to drop afternoon highs a couple of degrees into the upper 80s to near 90 although with dewpoints that are going to feel more tropical than what we`ve seen recently.
&&
.AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 603 PM CDT Fri Sep 19 2025
Isolated showers in Acadiana will fade after sunset. Otherwise VFR conditions are expected through the TAF forecast.
&&
.MARINE... Issued at 1218 PM CDT Fri Sep 19 2025
Winds and seas will remain tranquil below 10 knots and seas between 1-2 feet across the Gulf today and tomorrow. Scattered storms will continue over the outer coastal waters through the afternoon with storms becoming less widespread tonight into Saturday.
Precipitation chances increase early next week as better atmospheric moisture works into the region ahead of an upper level low moving across the midwest. This will keep precipitation chances elevated through at least Wednesday. Away from storms, winds and seas will remain light.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1218 PM CDT Fri Sep 19 2025
Hot and dry conditions will continue through Saturday Minimum RH values will drop down into the 30s this afternoon and Saturday, but calm winds will limit the fire danger. By Sunday, moisture return will bring min RH values back into the 40-50% range along with an increase in afternoon thunderstorms that will continue each day through the middle of next week.
