.SHORT TERM... /NEW/ Update:
Clear skies and near calm winds across the region has resulted in some very isolated pockets of reduced visibility in fog this morning. Satellite and surface observations show this from Hamilton to Gatesville with another little pocket of fog near Sherman. This will be short lived through the early morning, otherwise sunny skies will prevail with temps warming into the mid and upper 80s this afternoon

Previous Discussion: /Overnight through Saturday/
Clear skies and light winds will continue through the rest of tonight and into Friday as much of the Southern Plains will be under the influence of mid level ridging. This will result in cool nights and warm afternoons through the weekend with highs running 2-5 degrees above normal. No significant weather is expected through Saturday.

.LONG TERM... /Issued 1223 AM CDT Fri Sep 26 2025/ /Saturday Night through Thursday/
By Saturday night, the mid level ridge axis will shift a bit eastward as a trough amplifies over the Desert Southwest. This will result in an increase in high cloud cover over the latter part of the weekend and into early next week, but the lower half of the atmosphere will remain dry. Despite the increase in clouds, afternoon highs will generally remain near or slightly above normal through Monday as this trough ejects eastward. A broad ridge will return mid week with weak northwest flow aloft persisting through the end of the week. Mostly sunny skies and continued near or slightly above normal temperatures can be expected with near zero chance for rainfall.
