An upper level ridge extends from northern Mexico to the central
Plains this afternoon. Surface high pressure was centered over the
Arklatex region, and winds across our CWA were light. The airmass
remains dry with dewpoints in the 50s and 60s. This is allowing
for large diurnal temperature swings. Lows this morning were in
the 50s and 60s. Temperatures are moving toward the 80s and 90s.
This trend will continue through the short term period. High
pressure will continue to dominate producing mainly clear skies
and light winds. The low temperatures the next two nights will be
mainly in the 60s with highs Sunday very close to today`s.

Models show an upper trough developing and moving across TX Monday
and Tuesday. But, the surface high will keep drier air over our
CWA, and dry weather will continue. Temperatures will remain about
the same Monday. There will be some warming in the middle of the
week. Highs will reach the middle 90s across most of the area
outside of the Hill Country Wednesday and Thursday. Winds will
shift to the east Thursday bringing some cooler temperatures
Friday. Still no rain through the long term.

VFR flight conditions continue at the area TAF sites. Mostly clear
skies will be expected through the afternoon but there could be some
uptick in high clouds from tonight into early Sunday. Winds will be
light from the east-northeast to east-southeast. KDRT will feature
the strongest winds of around 10 kts early in the TAF forecast
before subsiding in speed as well.
