- High temperatures should hold steady in the low 90s through the
  forecast period.
- Moisture increases into the late weekend, however, rain chances
  likely don`t return until the start of next work week.

.SHORT TERM...

Quiet and dry weather will continue as dry air remains in place
and ridging settles overhead. Friday and Saturday will basically
be a persistence forecast with a slight chance (>10%) of showers
to form in the afternoon. While the high pressure remains in
place, winds will be light (less than 10 mph) and variable. The
light winds and clear skies will lead to temperatures rising into
the mid-90s across central Louisiana and the interior portions of
southeast Texas. Along the coast, temperatures will be in the low
90s. Area-wide dew points will be in the 70s, so expect a hot and
muggy end of the week and going into the weekend.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through next Thursday)

Our pattern will start to change at the start of the week as a
robust upper-level low moves across the central plains and settles
in place around the AR/MO border. A series of shortwave troughs
will travel across the region from this feature, leading to a
generally unsettled pattern for the second half of the week. It is
still too early to pin down any hazards from this system, but
widespread showers and storms are expected Wednesday through next
weekend.
With the increase in cloud coverage and rain will come a decrease
in temperatures across the region with highs dropping back into
the upper 80s. Unfortunately, any fronts that are associated with
this system will be weak by the time they reach the coast, so
relief from the humidity does not look likely.

VFR conditions will continue through the TAF period. Overnight,
winds will be calm. Patchy fog could be an issue near sunrise, but
otherwise, no issues are expected.

.MARINE...

Winds and seas remain calm with winds below 10 knots and seas
below 3 feet across the Gulf. The weather will also be calm
through the weekend with little to no convection as a ridge builds
over the region.
For the second half of next week, a series of troughs will
increase winds, leading to higher waves. No hazards are expected
for next week, but continue to monitor the forecast closely.

.FIRE WEATHER...

Hot and dry conditions will continue with little chance for rain
until the middle of next week. Minimum RH values will drop down
into the 30s on Friday and Saturday, but calm winds will limit the
fire danger. By Sunday, moisture return will bring min RH values
back into the 40-50% range.
Rain chances will return next week.
