Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 157 PM CDT Sat Sep 13 2025

...New NEAR TERM...

.NEAR TERM... (Tonight) Issued at 157 PM CDT Sat Sep 13 2025

Under high pressure subsidence has aided in keeping skies mostly clear allowing temps to rise into the mid to high 80s. The rather benign weather will continue into the night. Of note, with northerly flow dominate through the day today, slightly lower continental dew points have filtered into the area with current dew points in the 50s. The lower dew points will provide a little bit of uncertainty regarding overnight lows and fog formation. Conditions will be favorable for radiational cooling with clear skies and calm winds. Thus, temps may cool beyond what is currently forecast (low 60s). If temps cool to the high 50s, patchy fog will again be possible with best chances in valleys and along water ways.

.SHORT TERM... (Sunday through Tuesday) Issued at 1049 AM CDT Sat Sep 13 2025

The Tennessee Valley will largely remain underneath the influence of an upper-ridge axis building across the lower Mississippi Valley, Mid South, and into the Great Lakes. However, an area of low pressure will also develop just off of the Atlantic Florida coastline by Monday which may begin to meander northward into the Carolinas by midweek. All this to say, expect more of the same in our area with plenty of warmth and sunshine, but a few more clouds could begin to filter into the region by Tuesday. Afternoon highs in the lower 90s will be common, with lows in the low to mid 60s.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Monday night through Friday) Issued at 843 PM CDT Fri Sep 12 2025

Little changes through next week for our weather has the upper low lifts slowly northeast through the mid Atlantic, allowing the mid and upper level ridge axis to shift east through the OH and TN valleys. This as an upper trough and low drop into the upper MS valley late next week. This may bring the next appreciable cold front southeast, albeit weakening as it does so. A dry forecast is being kept in place through Day 7, with rather persistent temperatures, with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s and lows in the lower to middle 60s.
