.DISCUSSION... Issued at 210 PM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

Currently, the upper level trough is exiting the region to the east as an upper ridge builds in over the Plains from the west. At the surface, high pressure has settled over the area behind the frontal boundary. This is leading to light northwesterly winds, mostly sunny skies, and mild temperatures. Temperatures this afternoon will range from the upper 70s to around 80 degrees areawide.

The upper level ridge will dominate our pattern for the rest of the forecast time frame. This will lead to a stretch of dry and mild weather like we haven`t seen for quite some time. Afternoon highs for the next week will reach into the upper 70s to lower 80s with overnight lows falling to around 60 each night. Near zero rain chances are also expected with mostly sunny conditions. Winds will turn southerly on Friday, remaining out of the south between 5-10 knots through the end of the period. A weak upper level impulse looks to pass over the region early next week that could lead to a few more clouds on Mon/Tue with POPs remaining under 10%. But that looks to be the extent of the excitement for this forecast.
