.DISCUSSION...
Smoke from the Garnet Fire continues to filter over the Sierra per latest satellite obs, which is producing some hazy skies across Mono County. Smoke will likely linger into the evening but should disperse on Tuesday. Transient high pressure aloft will support warm and dry weather across the region through midweek. Daytime highs will be in the 70s and 80s each day through Wednesday with lowest valleys flirting with 90F.
Shower and thunderstorm activity likely increases Thursday and over the week as low pressure in the eastern Pacific draws rich moisture into the region. Chances begin to increase Thursday in response to moisture filtering into the region from the south. Thus, best odds of afternoon showers and storms Thursday will exist south of US-50 with greater uncertainty farther north. There is also the potential for nocturnal thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday morning. Odds and coverage of thunderstorms remain favored to peak on Friday and Saturday before waning Sunday into early next week. There is still much uncertainty in the exact details (e.g, timing, main hazards, etc) so be sure to stay up to date with the latest forecast!
