...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, AVIATION, MARINE, FIRE WEATHER...

.KEY MESSAGES...

- There is a Slight Risk for flash flooding and a Marginal Risk severe weather today.

- A cold front will push through the region this evening into Thursday accompanied by scattered showers and thunderstorms. Drier and somewhat cooler air will filter into the region Thursday evening through the weekend.

&&

.SHORT TERM... (Today through Saturday night) Issued at 1202 AM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

The cold front that brought showers and storms to the region earlier is currently stretched across coastal TX/ LA into central AR, with the lingering storms along the TX/LA coast. Convection inland has tapered out for the night. Outside of areas of fog, areas inland will remain on the quiet side until convection begins to ramp up later in the morning.

While severe storms are not anticipated in the morning to afternoon hours, we could see some heavy downpours leading to isolated flash flooding. Over the day, the front will slowly work closer and closer to the Gulf, clearing most of the CWA by midday, then the lower Acadiana area by the late evening hours. Nevertheless, most of the storms will taper in the afternoon as drier air works its way in.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Sunday through Thursday) Issued at 1202 AM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

A surface high pressure will continue to migrate into the plains, where it will linger for most of the extended period. Additionally, heights aloft will build going into the weekend. Pleasant conditions will be on tap for the area from Friday, although there will be a slight warming trend over the weekend and into the consecutive work week.

&&

.AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1202 AM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

Showers and storms are still lingering across part of the coast and in the Gulf, however everything has cleared from the inland areas for the night. Areas of patchy fog will be possible tonight before winds pick up. Going into tomorrow morning, we will see an uptick in activity again along the front as it continues to push offshore. As a high pressure moves closer, conditions will begin to improve again around midday to the early evening.

&&

.MARINE... Issued at 1202 AM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

A front will continue to push into the gulf waters today into tomorrow night. This will allow for lingering showers and storms, with more activity ramping up during the day. Near showers and storms, locally higher winds and waves will be possible. Winds from the NW will be from 10 to 15 knots, with gusts over 20 knots possible tonight into tomorrow, with improving conditions into the weekend. Waves will be between 1 and 3 feet throughout a majority of the forecast period.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1202 AM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

Isolated to scattered showers and storms will still be possible this morning and afternoon along the coast in response to the frontal boundary. It will continue to push off, along with a high pressure moving in, which will shut out rain chances into the weekend. Behind the front, RH values will drop, with minimum RH down to 40%.
